Hello loves! Happy Thursday, hope all is going well. As for me, I'm extremely happy it's Thursday. Why, you ask? Well, I have been working for 8 days straight. Yep, I haven't been off from work since last Tuesday. Today will be my 9th day and then I'm off for the next 2 days. Can I get an Amen people?!! The worst part about being at work those 8 days was that our air conditioner was on the fritz. OMG, it was so hot in there, I thought I was going to faint due to the heat. Yesterday, even more so, since it was stock day! Later in the evening, we finally got it serviced. So today shouldn't be bad. Okay, sorry about my little rant but, I just had to share with you guys. So onto the outfit.

If you follow me on Snapchat: xanmirvil (don't snap a ton, but sometimes I do) then you saw me wearing this dress like a week ago. To be honest, I planned on shooting the outfit that day, but unforeseen errands got in the way. I really wanted to share this look with you, so I put it back on earlier this week and shot the look. Actually, I shot another look also that I wore last week. I wish I would have snapped a behind the scenes look on my Snapchat. I was struggling to change from one outfit to the next in the back of the car. Anyways, I absolutely love this dress. It's lightweight so, I can deal with the Louisiana heat, and the color is so vibrant that it doesn't need a ton of accessories to look great.

So loves, I hope you have an awesome Thursday and an even more awesome weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Straightening My Hair

Hello dear readers. Sorry I've been gone for a like a week. I had plans to take outfit photos, but  a few emergency things got in the way during the time I planned it. I'm hoping I can get a few in this week. I already have the outfits laid aside. I just gotta find the time to shoot them. Any how, I thought I would show you guys the tools and products I use to straighten my hair. I have natural hair and it is extremely coily in some places and kinky in others. Since you've all seen my hair in an Afro, you know the amount of shrinkage I have. It's crazy!!! It literally takes me up to 5 hours just to straighten after I've worn my Afro for a few days. So here are a the main products that I use to get my hair straight. All products are in the order that I use them.

The Kit

The Detangler

Since my hair is extremely curly, I always need to detangle it before I start. Curly Kids Mixed Hair Super Detangling Spray works amazing.  When I was a kid and a preteen, my mom used to use Johnson & Johnson "No More Tangles" Spray and the Suave Kids Detangling Spray to do my hair. Yes, this thick mop that I have had to always be detangled before styling. And now that I'm natural, I need it even more.  When I'm detangling my hair, I do it in small 1 to 2 inch sections.

The Wide Tooth Comb

This tool is a must for all thick, curly, natural hair girls out there. It just makes detangling so much easier. I swear I don't know where I would be without it. (I own 3.) There are special double teeth combs like this one, that I've tried before. These work fine, but I still prefer the classic style of the one up above.

The Leave-In Conditioner

Leave- in conditioner is the best way to moisturize my hair. I use a few different ones, but the Organics Olive Oil Leave-In Conditioner  is the one I use when I'm straightening. My other leave-in conditioners are formulated to help maintain my curls. This one is light-weight, moisturizing, and it dries fast. I put this on after I detangle and right before I blow dry. Yes, I blow dry, but it helps get my hair straighter. Sorry, the blow dryer isn't pictured, but you could use any standard blow dryer.

The Heat Protectant

I discovered the amazing power of Moroccan oil when I bought the flat iron below. It was a small trial size but I loved it. The Organix Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco is amazing. It really does penetrate the hair shaft. The only Argan Oil I would use other than this is the One N' Only Argan Oil (it's the trial size that came with the flat iron). I take about a dime size of the product ans smooth it over each section before I pass the flat iron over it.

The Flat Iron

Okay so at first glance, I'm guessing you ladies are thinking, "whaaattt???, is this really the flat iron she uses?" Yes, it is. So if you dolls remember, a few months ago my trusty flat iron (sound here) of 5 years broke. It just died on me. I didn't want to believe the worst because honestly, I didn't wanna cough up the dough (yes, I said that) to buy another one. My previous one was a Pro Beauty Tools iron, and it only cost $40 at Walmart at the time. Now that same flat iron cost $70 at Walmart. I know that most girls use CHI and GHDs but the pro beauty tools one worked just as great as a CHI. I decided on a whim to pick up the Conair Infinity Pro while in Target, because I really needed an iron. I figured why not try it and if it doesn't work just return it. Holy Crap!!! Once I used it, I was beyond happy. I mean, I literally swiped each section of hair maximum twice. It works beautifully after one pass, but I've have this thing about doing two passes (I'm weird).

The Results

Here is the result of 5 hours of straightening. (Sorry for the shotty photo, but it was 3:00 am and I was tired.) Now maybe for some it takes way less time than that, but like I said, I work in small sections. This way I make sure that my roots are as straight as possible. The roots and the middle of my hair are where I get most of my tangles. Any how, I hope this post has helped some of my natural girls out there, and I also hope this has given girls of other races and hair textures a look into the world of black women hair care.

Thanks for stopping by and reading. I love you guys and have an awesome Tuesday!!!

Happy Friday dear readers! I can say that with excitement because I will be off tomorrow. And you know what that means, weekend activities. Anyhow, I wore this outfit at the beginning of the week. I was thinking I really wanted to style more shorts, since it is summer, and shorts are the essential wardrobe staple for summer.

I've actually been struggling to style shorts lately. I mention to you guys before that I had gained some extra pounds (most in my thighs and tummy). I don't feel the same as I used to in my shorts. Most of my loved ones and co-workers think I'm crazy for thinking that I need to loose weight. I know I'm not overly obese or anything, but I'm just not comfortable with it. So I'm on a path right now with regular exercise so that I can drop the weight and keep it off (and of course be healthy). So lovelies, I hope you like my romantic version of wearing shorts. Thanks for stopping by!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Charming Picks

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Charming Picks

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten

Hello! On my last post I mention that I might possibly do a post on my top picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Well here it is. Honestly, I loved perusing the pages to see what cool things could be picked up for this fall. As I was looking, I decided to choose pieces that would be great for transitioning into fall, but still could be worn during the summer. All these pieces could be worn now with the exception of the cape. Also I'm such a sucker for deeper reds and cognac colored clothing and accessories when fall comes around. Therefore, most of my picks are in those colors. Of course the best part is that they are all under $100 I hope you guys love these picks. Happy Shopping and thanks for stopping by.

Hello loves. Happy Friday. So this post was suppose to go up on Wednesday, but I was debating whether to post it since I didn't get much good lighting. The sun was going down and my photographer kept helping people with things. I'm glad he was being nice, and helping out, but I was like "hey the sun is going down and we need to get photos in." Anywho, on a side note, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started yesterday. Well Early Access for cardholders started yesterday. The sale opens to the remaining public on July 17th and runs through August 2nd. I'm not a big fan of credit cards. (I use to be a credit card pusher in my hayday, former NY & Co. keyholder.) But, alas for all you gals like me, who don't love store credit cards, you have the option to use the card as a debit card. Literally, the card is just linked to your bank account so you can only spend what you have. You can sign up here. I may do a post about my favorite items from the sale. Last year I did a under $100 post for the sale, here. I know not all ladies have the budgets to spend over $100 for an item.

OK loves, go on and have an awesome Friday and an even better weekend! Love you!

Happy Monday loves! I hope it's going well so far. I guess you could call this a post Independence Day look. Even though I was at work on the 4th, I couldn't help putting this casual patriotic look together on Sunday. You can never go wrong with a standout red lip and classic plaids! Also put my blue plaid chucks to good use here. Seriously, I've been living in easy casual wear lately. Don't get me wrong i love my ultra-feminine looks, but this is an easy go to when you're running errands or spending a day in the park. Anyhow, I hope you all have an awesome day! For The Love of Pink

Jacket: Forever 21 (similar) // Dress: Forever 21 (old, similar style different colors) // Jeans: Charlotte Russe (old) // Boots: Madden Girl (similar pair w/out studs) // Purse: Charming Charlie (old, similar here, less expensive here) // Yellow Butterfly Necklace: Charming Charlie (old) // Silver Heart Locket: Forever 21 (old) // Watch: NY & Co. (old) // Silver Cuff: NY & Co. (old, similar) // Earrings: Claire's (similar)

Happy Wednesday loves! It's the middle of the week and I'm off again. I wore this outfit last week while out and about. No big deal, just overexposing you guys to my love of the color pink and florals. I decided to style this dress as a top. I've had it in my closet for a few years now, but I'm just too tall to wear it as a dress. OK maybe I'm not too tall for it to be considered a dress, but I just don't feel comfortable wearing it without tights or pants underneath. If I were to bend over everyone would see my unmentionables and that would be too embarrassing for me!

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and don't forget to follow me on Bloglovin' and Instagram (outfits that don't make it to the blog)! Thanks for stopping by!
