My Autumn Home Must Haves

My Autumn Home Must Haves Book // Candle // Album // Nook HD+ // Blanket // Owl Mug // Tea // DVDs 1 & 2

Hey Loves!!! TGIF, for those who are preparing for a long weekend off. And for those that work the weekend, I feel your pain! So today's post is the last post in my Autumn Must Haves series. Normally during the summer, I don't like to stay home much. I'd rather get out and see what's happening around town. But during autumn, I become a major homebody. Yeah, I'll still go out and enjoy time away from the house, but only if it involves food or the beautiful fall air. This is the time of year to sit on your patio or porch and watch leaves fall, curl up with a blanket if the air gets a little chilly, and get lost in a good book. Above are the home essentials that will carry me through autumn.

1) I truly adore all of Mr. Poe's works. He is one of my favorites. I just love curling up on a corner of my couch or sitting in my rocker (yeah peeps, I'm a little old lady on the inside) reading The Tell Tale Heart. Yes these stories can be dark but, they are wonderful!

2) To add to that ambiance, a good fall scented candle must be lit. I love anything with cider in it. The scent just screams autumn.

3) I love playing with my Nook HD+. I'll sit and play word games, like cryptograms, or puzzle games for hours. Also, I use it as my main source of reading my fave blogs while in bed. I have a few nook books (Emerson, anyone) on there too. Although, I do prefer my physical books. Nothing compares to having your own personal library in my opinion. Except for maybe my own massive shoe closet.

4) Sometimes nothing is better than sipping on your fave fall themed tea, relaxing by yourself or with your significant other watching your favorite movies. I prefer movies that are either comedies or about fashion. If you ever catch me looking at DVDs I'm sure to walk away with a movie about either one of those. The ones about fashion are something I'll probably enjoy myself or with a girlfriend, but the comedies are great for sharing with the BF! I see many nights like this to come. Pictured above are two of my faves.
P.S. I got the mug pictured above last fall, but I'm pretty sure it'll be in stock this fall!

5) And of course everybody needs a cozy blanket. This is for those nights where I'm sitting on the patio looking up at the stars and just basking in the mystery of the universe. I love playing Melody Gardot in the background. her voice is so deep, romantic, and classic. When she sings it just rolls off her tongue so beautifully. If you are a fan of jazz like me, then you will love the album pictured above.

So loves, what are your autumn home must haves? Let me know in the comments below.

Hey loves. I hope you all have been well and enjoyed your weekend. It's been a lot of heavily rainy days here. Hurricane Season. I know I've been keeping up with my Monday, Wednesday, Friday posting schedule but, I was extremely tired by Sunday night. Those long work weekends! Anyhow I figured it would be okay if I just posted on Tuesday.
So I was brainstorming ideas for blog posts and I thought, since I'm feeling fall vibes why not continue those vibes on the blog with a 2 or 3 part series on my fall must haves. The first of this series is my fall beauty must haves. Above are some of my fave products for fall and will be in heavy rotation all season long!
1) Everyone needs a good moisturizer! This one gets my dry skin perfectly moisturized!
2) An amazing lip balm is a must! Baby Lips are my current fave.
3) A great foundation that's matte and has great staying power!
4) Dark nails and lips signify the beginning of fall for me! My go to look is dark lips and nails with
     winged eyeliner and massive lashes!
5) A nice fall fragrance. I love woodsy/spicy oriental scents. They combine sexiness and comfort to me.
Weird combo, but hey that's how I describe it.
6) And of course you have to have your fave neutral lip and fall colored nails, that will go with all those
vibrant fall colors you plan to wear!

On a side note: My fave fall dark lipstick (MAC Fixed on Drama) and nail polish (N.Y.C. Cosmetics in Lincoln Center) combo is no longer available so, I thought I would give you guys my second fave combo! These colors are amazing dupes for my all time faves.
So loves, what are your fave beauty products for fall? I'm always looking to try new products. Thanks for stopping by!

An Ode To Autumn

I'm sitting here thinking "when can I wear my lightweight over-sized sweaters/ leggings/ riding boot combo? When can I sit outside and feel the crisp cool breeze on my skin? When can I keep my darker lipsticks in rotation?!" Autumn, I so long for you and all the styling possibilities you bring about.  I can't remember when my love affair with autumn truly began, but I know that it will last a lifetime. The fact that our affair only blossoms for a short time, makes me crave it even more. Here in central Louisiana, Autumn weather is short. The calendar may say from Sept. 21 to Dec. 21, but here it's more like Oct. 21 to November 21. So I cherish every moment we have together.

On another note, these were taken on Wednesday, which was another gloomy, rainy day here. The BF and I decided to just hangout at a cafe that's becoming one of our favorites! He wasn't having the best day, so I wanted to cheer him up. If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw that our waitress got the cook to make our wrap into a heart shape! How sweet of them. I Hope you guys have an awesome weekend and I'll talk to you guys next week.

Hello loves. It's Hump Day! Just two more days till the weekend. If only I had a normal office like job to be excited for it. Alas, I work all day on both days. I think Sundays should be like a national holiday where no one works or they only work for like 5 hours max. This way everyone can get to enjoy Sundays! Anyhow, onto the outfit.

I finally found a new ultra comfy t-shirt. I found it on clearance at Target. It was less than $4 And may I say it is hella comfy! It was perfect for yesterday's coffee date with the BF! Pairing it with my boyfriend jeans just made it all the more better. I've been craving fall lately, so I decided on my fave dark nail color and dark lip combo to complete the look. The day was heavily rainy and we thought coffee was a must. Thank goodness the rain cleared up for a bit so we could take photos. I cherish my days off because these are the days that I do outfit photos. (I wear a uniform on my work days.) So when it rains, it puts a wrench in my blog work.  Well all is well that ended well. I hope the remainder of your week goes well. Also, I know you guys might be tired of seeing these gold heels, but they have honestly become a staple in my closet and a fave!

Saturdays Are For Wine

Outfit Details: Cardigan: New York and Company (similar) // Dress:  Charming Charlie (old, love this dress) // Sandals: Gap (old, similar) // Purse: Coach // Necklace: Claire's (old) // Belt: Target via this dress (similar) // Sunnies: Dollar Tree (similar) // Lips: Revlon ColorBurst Balm Stain in Cherish

Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I wore this dress Saturday to a midday wine tasting with the boyfriend. On Tuesday, we were riding around town thinking about how to spend our first real Saturday off together, and then he spotted it! A sign in front of World Market (his fave store by the way) saying that they were hosting a wine tasting. He presented the idea to me and I was all for it. We rarely have little events like this going on in our area (or if we do I'm never off to hear about it or enjoy it...). If you follow me on Instagram you saw that we found a new wine (Lambrusco) to love. After the wine tasting, we visited my grandmother for a bit, then returned home to host my friend Lauren for dinner (with the Lambrusco we picked up earlier). She's off to Europe on Tuesday and I wanted to see her before she left. She'll be gone for at least 2 months and we really needed to spend time together, since we rarely see each other.

Anyhow, the day was great and I really didn't want it to end! Here's to the next full weekend day we have off together! Enjoy your Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Blogging Outtakes

Hi my loves! I had a few issues yesterday that kept me from doing outfit photos. I spent the entire day searching for my iPhone. Yes guys, after having the same phone for 2 years I lost it. I was so devastated. Usually when it comes to my gadgets I'm really good about keeping them safe and in sight. I retraced my steps multiple times only to come up with nothing. So today I bit the bullet and bought a new one! Phones aren't cheap these days, geez. But I did have an awesome in store Rep, who made the process so amazing. Shout out to Ms. Sherry! We ended up holding a conversation about wines. She suggested a few German wines for the boyfriend and I to try, since he loves Germany.  I totally can't wait to share them with him. We are planning on going to a wine tasting Saturday, so that's just icing on top the cake.

Anyways, I thought it would be cool to share a few photo outtakes of some recent posts. The world of blogging isn't filled with all beautiful photos all the time. It can be awkward, ugly and hella funny. I swear he always catches me doing the most awkward poses or me being a total goof. I hope you guys enjoy this funny little post. Hopefully we will be back to the regularly scheduled program on Monday. Talk to you later, and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Wednesday loves! I finally worked a morning at work yesterday and it was great! I was really excited to actually get off work not only at a decent time, but to get off at the same time as the BF. We took this rare opportunity to go out on a midweek date and explore the city. He's always talking about finding new locations to shoot. He thinks you guys will get bored with the same old background! Plus he loves shooting landscape. It's all good to me though because we always have an awesome time finding these spots!

After exploring, we decided to have dinner at a cool place called Artmosphere. The vibe there is laid back and relaxed. Even-though this cafe/bar sits on a busy street the vibe is still really chill. We sat outside by the street and enjoyed a beer and some Mexican food! Their Up In Smoke Wrap was really good! So if you are ever in Lafayette, LA. definitely check them out! After dinner we walked downtown, then went home and watched a movie. All in all it was a great night!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you guys enjoy the remainder of your week! Hopefully, I'll talk to you guys on Friday!

Hey loves! Hoping you all had another lovely weekend. I'm still on my casual/comfortable vibe as you can see. Easy to put together pieces, no extravagance just simplicity. These August Louisiana days aren't anything pretty. Hot, sweaty, humid, and exhausting. Just a few words to describe the weather here. Obviously when the temperature is in the 90's you reach for easy breathable fabric. By the way, as promised, I'm sans makeup in this post, okay I have lipstick on, but honestly that's all! That's my bare face! It was too darn hot for makeup. It just would have melted off!

On another note, these are the dog days of summer. Time for back to school, fall shopping, and all the responsibilities that fall entails. As I move toward fall, I always feel the need to be more grown up and serious. And as much as I love fall (my fave season), sometimes you just crave the childlike feeling that comes along with summer. So for all of us who are eternally 12 or just wanna feel like it for a bit, enjoy these last few weeks and make them the best summer has yet to offer.

Happy Friday!!! Whoop whoop! For all you guys that don't work weekends, TGIF to you. For those of you who do work weekends (like me), relax it's only two days and you still can enjoy some night time fun right?! Okay so onto the outfit!

I've been feeling really casual lately. I've had a busy week so being comfortable was #1, then looking stylish was #2. Also, it has been hella hot here lately. In this heat, sheer fabrics are a must. They are breezy and can be dressed up or down. Also since it's been so hot, yesterday I opted for no makeup. I figured it would just melt off! So the next post you see me in will include my bare face.

Sorry for the short post, but I slacked off yesterday , and I am busting butt trying to get this up for guys. Thanks for stopping by!

Utility...That's The Word

Jacket: Charming Charlie (old, similar) // Tank: New York and Company (old, similar cheaper version) // Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch (old, similar) // Shoes: Old Navy // Purse: Coach ( no longer available, cute option here) // Necklace: Charming Charlie (old) // Lips: Wet n' Wild Mega Last in Cherry Picking

Happy Hump Day loves! I thought I would write a post featuring the most worn item in my closet, my khaki utility jacket. The idea came to me when I was planing out my next outfit post. I thought " Hey, I wear this jacket with everything and I've never featured it on the blog!" So this outfit was styled around the jacket.

I remember buying this jacket at major discount ($5!!!!) at Charming Charlie a few years ago. All the jackets were sitting on a sale rack to the back, a full size run. No one obviously had bought any. Utility jackets at the time had started trending but the girls in my area weren't feeling it! I thought hey I could get an of the moment trend for cheap and not feel bad about it if I only get a season use out of it. Behold, the utility jacket is still trending and has become a major staple in many fashionistas closets. I absolutely love my jacket. Who knew that 4 years later I would still be wearing this jacket. It's the most worn item in my closet! I wear everyday to work, when I'm running errands, and when I'm just relaxing with family and friends. I think it's probably my most versatile piece too! The neighbor's pup decided to photo-bomb the shoot! Also the boyfriend saw my hair and makeup like this during my lunch break and fell in love with the look! (The power of a pink lip and femme fatale hair!)

On another note, I'm too happy to relax for today and tomorrow. I have two days off from work and I'm going to try my best to enjoy them. I may go to Barnes and Noble and finish off my gift card, or go to the spa and get a massage! Take Marley to the dog park or just sit at home sip herbal tea and catch up on some reading and my YouTube subscriptions (love watching my beauty gurus!). Who knows the days are full of possibilities. Hope you guys are having a great week! Thanks for stopping by.
